Painted in 1312 this image of Christ among his disciples depicts the last supper or the mystical supper. From the Monastery of Vatopedi at Mount Athos this world renowned image has deep blues, reds and yellows. Peter is at the right hand of Christ while John leans upon His chest. It is this 'Last Supper' upon Earth that communion is from.

Very nice
I purchased size S (4x5) for our godson - he has requested an icon of St. John leaning on Christ's chest, and this is the only one I have been able to find. The colors are rich (not quite as glowy as the preview image) and the detail is beautiful. I rather wish I'd gone for M as the image turns out small, but it is still very nice. Legacy Icons does a great job with sturdy construction, and the whole shipment was packed securely and arrived in good time.

Buy it in medium
I was a bit disappointed by this icon because having bought it in extra large the image quality was not strong enough compared to other icons I have bought in the past. Of course the icon itself was very well made.
This is an old icon and is over 700 years old so if you are not planning to have this up on high I would recommend buying it in medium so you can fully enjoy the image.
