Description

This 17th century icon comes from the Hilander monastery on Mount Athos. It features four prominent warrior saints, from left to right, Demetrios the Myrrh-streaming (also spelled Demetrius/Dmitri), George the Trophy-bearer, Prokopios (or Procopius), and Artemios (or Artemius/Artemy).

All four of these saints were soldiers and martyrs. Their powerful intercessions are especially felt for soldiers, police and public servants, as well as everyone who struggles against fleshly passions.

    Warrior Saints

Posted by Francis Hall on Jun 5th 2021

There is a depth of spirituality in all icons. When I saw my first one (Virgin of Kazan) , the sheer beauty of this icon took my breath away. This icon is the same. Believe me, icons are special.

    Remember Our Servant Warriors

Posted by CFloyd on Aug 28th 2017

This icon reminds me of my husband's service and the choice my son may make to serve as a police officer. I also remember to have gratitude for all the suffering servants who died for their faith. The detail on this icon is not as sharp as I would like, but it is still beautiful to behold.
