Description

Saint Juvenaly (or Juvenal) was born in Siberia. He worked as a mining engineer. When he was 30 years old, his wife died and he joined a monastery. He was later sent to Alaska as a missionary, where he worked among the natives for three years. He baptized many hundreds of people during this time.

In 1796, he was killed by a group of native hunters for unknown reasons. His killers later told Saint Innocent of Alaska that Saint Juvenaly had called them to repentance until he was utterly cut to pieces. For this death, he is called the Protomartyr (first martyr) of America. His feast is celebrated on September 24.

    So well done!

I was looking for an icon of St. Juvenaly, but most of what I saw just wasn’t great quality. I was so thoroughly impressed with Legacy Icons. Well made, nice glossy finish, and a lovely depiction of Father Juvenaly. I have a devotion to Sts. Juvenaly and Herman, so I love seeing them on my wall now.

    Beautifully made.

I ordered a 6x9 masterpiece icon of Saint Juvenaly, and it is absolutely beautiful. It arrived about 9 days from when I ordered, and it went well through shipment. Vibrant colors, beautiful shine from the protective wax... a wonderful product that looks and feels quite durable.
