Description
This icon presents a selection of the martyrs and confessors of Russia under the Bolshevik yolk, including the royal family of Tsar Nicolas II and the Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow. Below, their figures can be seen, the incense that rises as they pray for the church, yet here on earth. From above, crowns of martyrdom descend as rewards for their steadfastness and courage in the face of great suffering. This icon serves as both a timeless reminder of their past struggles and feats of faith, as well as their peace now in the kingdom of heaven.
