    Great Booklet

Posted by Brandon on Dec 3rd 2020

The booklet includes the text of the Didache in fairly easy to read language w/ lots of footnotes/references to the Scriptures from where they originate. The way that it's printed is also just a lot easier to read than anything I've found online. The pages are nice and thick and there are also some early Christian hymns and prayers in the back.

Short and sweet, and to the point, and I liked how it came with a little greeting card!

    Great addition to anyone's collection

Posted by Benjamin A on Dec 4th 2019

I've read this twice as of this review and enjoy it immensely. The introduction gives you all you need to know about it's history and the contents are succinct, but extremely valuable. A short, and important read

This is an essential document for anyone interested in the very earliest teachings of the church. Twenty-eight pages in length which also includes the text of some very early Christian hymns & prayers. No earnest home should be without this handsome booklet.

additional verse I can't find in other translation

Posted by Robert on Jan 12th 2017

Disappointed the verse about "the ointment" was added. Can't find this in any other translation so I assume someone added this to fit their own agenda. Also referring to Jesus as the "Your Son" instead of "Your Servant" does not reflect the original writing. This "book" is actually a pamphlet, and it would take about 6 of them stacked on top of each other to resemble the picture on your website. On the plus side it is of good quality, and has the hymns and prayers at the back which are nice. [LEGACY ICONS COMMENT: The verse about the ointment is 10:8, which indeed is not present in some manuscripts, but it is present in others. The main sources we consulted did include this verse. The New Testament itself includes verses and sections that are not present in every edition. In regards to the statement of "Your Son," this is a correct rendering based on the documents we reviewed, though again, there may be variants. As with many ancient Christian writings, they were widely disseminated and copied by hand. The variants are not at odds with Christian practice, in any case. Our goal is to introduce readers to this ancient text. We encourage those who desire to make a deep, scholarly study of the Didache to consult other translatiosn as well, with commentaries and original manuscripts. The photograph was a pre-release mockup, and has been updated to better represent the actual product.]
