This stunning icon depicts the Six Days of Creation in one single incredible icon.
The starry firmament above contains the sun, moon, and stars. The border of the sky is marked by a rainbow, which in iconography symbolizes God's divine power and authority. The seas below are gathered into one place, bordered by dry land. The seas teem with life, while the sky is filled with birds and the land contains numerous plants and animals. Adam, the first-created man, sits in his place, giving glory to God for all things.
The Lord Jesus Christ sits in an orb of divinity in the center, his arms outstretched in a gesture of blessing and authority. In Orthodox theology and iconography, it is the Word of God in particular who accomplishes the Creation of the world—as Genesis says, the Lord spoke all things into existence.
The Creation account is read four times each year in the Orthodox Church: on the eves of the greatest feasts of the Lord Jesus—the Nativity, Theophany, and Pascha—and during the first week of Great Lent.
This beautiful icon was painted by Bulgarian iconographer Georgi Chimev, exclusively for Legacy Icons.

Awesome
It's said every picture speaks a 1000 words or something like that. This gorgeous icon will probably never stop speaking to me. In fact, this icon transcends the discursive mind, which I suppose all icons are supposed to do (I'm RC), but the truth and beauty contained here are something to be witnessed and experienced. Legacy Icons are always beautifully made, properly weighted and their attention to detail is consistent and is necessary to the art. The image and colors are crisp and alive. In fact, this icon is Reality and it is Alive.
