Mid-Pentecost is celebrated on the Wednesday 25 days after Pascha, the halfway point between Pascha at Pentecost. This feast celebrates Christ as the Holy Wisdom of God, as the Gospel describes Him teaching in the temple to the astonishment of the Jews, who said, "How does this man know letters, having never learned?" This eight-day festival is the patronal feast of churches named for the Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia), including the famous cathedral of Constantinople.
This fresco is from the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Dečani in western Kosovo.
You do not see many of this type of icon so I am happy to own it.
I bought this in large and the workmanship is excellent as usual. The image itself is not as sharp as other icons I have bought in the past and I think if you value image clarity than medium maybe the best size though if you plan to hang it up high where you will not be so close to it then extra large maybe fine.
