Back for 2022!
This beautifully illuminated manuscript features excerpts, called Katavasiae, from the Canon of the Nativity sung at Matins in the Orthodox Church. The hymns were written in the 8th century by St. Cosmas the Hymnographer.
The illuminations are a hybrid of medieval Byzantine and western styles, with the capital C featuring an icon of the Nativity.
Due to the immense detail, the minimum size is 6x7½.
