Description

This beautiful icon is one of the finest examples of Byzantine goldsmithery, featuring enameled inlays and jewels. Several military saints adorn the outer frame.

Originally housed in the Hagia Sophia, this icon was among the treasures taken by Latin crusaders during the sack of Constantinople in 1204. It is currently kept at Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice.

The original icon measures approximately 14x18 inches. (The Legacy Icons logo watermark will not appear on the icon you receive.)
