Description
The Theotokos of Vladimir is one of the most well-known and popular Orthodox icons, the most famous example of the eleusa (tenderness) type. It is traditionally considered to be the first icon ever painted, by the Apostle Luke himself, the board having being made from the table at which Christ, his Mother, and St. Joseph ate. In 1131 the icon was taken from Constantinople to Russia, to the city of Vladimir, from which the icon takes its name. Today it resides in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
This icon is specially available in the same dimensions as the historic original, as well as half-size. You will be truly inspired to see this stunning icon, virtually identical to its prototype and using new high-resolution imaging techniques. This incredible icon would make a truly spectacular centerpiece for any church or home. Replica Icons are made-to-order and may require additional time.
