This Byzantine icon, known in Latin as Salus Populi Romani, is an ancient symbol of Rome. Its history stretches back to its arrival in Rome in the year 590 under Pope St. Gregory the Great (the Dialogist). It is one of the icons believed to have been painted by the Apostle Luke.
The image, which had been darkened by centuries of age, underwent a meticulous restoration that was completed in 2018.
This icon is dear to my heart. It is beautiful, colorful and well-made. A wonderful reminder & copy of this famous picture.
The quality is outstanding for the price paid. its beautiful in real life. I have already made a list of others I'd like to get. This was my first purchase with Legacy Icons and it wont be my last.
Excellent quality as advertised. And the reproduction was true to the original artwork of the same name. Very pleased with my purchase. Thank-you.
