Description
This icon is a beautiful Byzantine portrayal of the Old Testament Prophet Habakkuk. Living between the destruction of the Northern and Southern Kingdoms, Habakkuk received visions of the destruction of Jerusalem and the eventual return of a remnant in latter years. One miracle of note associated with him is recorded in Daniel 14 where he meets an angel of the Lord and is transported across time and space to minister to the Prophet Daniel (living approximately a century later) to minister to him while in the Persian lions’ den. Handcrafted in Legacy Icons’ woodshop with quality materials, this icon faithfully depicts the prophet receiving and giving his message from God. Also spelled Habakuk, Abbacum, or Avakum, the Holy Prophet Habakkuk’s feast day is celebrated on December 2.
