Description
The Harrowing of Hades is the icon most often used to represent the Resurrection of Christ: the Feast of Feasts, Pascha (Easter). In this scene, Christ is seen coming out of the dark pit of Hades, bringing with Him all of the righteous Old Testament saints. The Lord is pulling Adam and Eve out, having smashed the gates that kept them captive. This is the great and universal triumph of life over death, light over darkness. It is an exact depiction of the Orthodox paschal hymn, "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!"

Buy small!
I was quite disappointed when I received this icon. I bought it in XX-large but even though the workmanship of the icon itself is up to Legacies usual high standard the image resolution is not good enough compared to all the other Legacy icons I purchased in the past. I would recommend buying it only in large, perhaps you can get away with extra large but in in XXlarge the resolution of the image is too poor and the clarity is lacking and not detailed enough.

I bought this in a mini and it is beautiful! The details are incredible and the colors are so vivid! So I'm now planning on giving the mini to a friend and I'm going to get a larger one for my prayer corner!
