Description
Our Lord is depicted at His trial, stripped of His clothes and beaten, hands tied, wearing the crown of thorns and holding the reed in His hand.
This icon of Christ is used during the first three days of Holy Week, especially at the Bridegroom Matins services. For this reason, the icon is known as "the Bridegroom." In the Byzantine tradition, this icon is carried in solemn procession while the hymn is sung: "Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight..."

Christ the Bride Groom
This is such a moving Icon. It may be my favorite in my sacred corner now.
-
The Spirit of Lent
I'm so pleased with this icon. It has taken the place of prominence in my icon corner during this Lenten season. With the 50% off pricing, I ordered extras for our church bookstore. Thank you for a wonderful icon that embodies the spirit of the Great Fast.

exquisite craftsmanship
This is an excellent rendition of perhaps my favorite icon. The quality of the mounting only adds to the beauty of the piece, and the grace and truth of the image portrayed.

As it was
This beautiful icon gives a feeling of how it was. Forlorn. Abandoned. Resolved. But not the end.

Not worth the money
The icon has 2 wooden cross slats on the back. One of the slats is not straight as it sticks out on one side and pushed in on the otnot side. This was my first and most likely my last purchase from Legacy. I paid for what I thought was a quality icon, but instead got very poor craftsmanship.
