Christ and Theotokos (Red) Prayer Corner Icon Set - Y023

This exquisite set of two Russian Old Believer style icons portrays the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) and the infant Christ in one and Jesus Christ in His glorified state in the second. The vivid background sets off each icon’s vivid colors and exquisite detail. As these icons focus on the faces and upper part of the body, each gives a close glimpse of our Lord and Savior and His Mother who ever intercedes for the Church. The Greek and Slavonic inscriptions, traditional for icons such as these, entitle each icon and further glorify those depicted: “Mother of God” for the Theotokos and “He Who Is” for Christ. As depictions of the glorified state of both Christ and the Theotokos in heaven, the icons serve to connect the viewer/worshiper in prayer to the Living God.

While contemporary icons, they follow the style of generations of iconographers, serving as “windows to heaven” and a support for prayer. Painted by the renowned Russian iconographer couple Anna and Roman Davidovskiy, these icons are faithfully reproduced from premium materials in the Legacy Icons woodshop in Zeeland, Michigan.

This set is an ideal centerpiece of a home prayer corner or even a parish chapel. Traditionally, the Theotokos and infant Christ icon occupies the left side of a prayer corner (or a parish’s iconostasis), and the glorified Christ icon the right side, with additional icons (e.g. patron saints, feast days) surrounding them.
