What I couldn’t get in Constantinople, I got from Legacy Icons!
Recently, a friend and I traveled to Constantinople (Istanbul) and visited a number of the historic churches. I had hoped to find authentic icons while I was there, but it seems that Christians have been so marginalized in Turkey, I could not find any Christian shopkeepers (it’s a very large city, so there may be some somewhere). There were some icons being sold in the Hagia Sophia museum and from vendors nearby, but I could not verify any kind of authenticity for them, and I didn’t want to pay non-Christians for “imitation” icons for use with my own prayer and spiritual exercises. So, after returning home, I went to the Legacy Icons website and searched for “Hagia Sophia.” I was so pleased to find these icons based on the same mosaics as those still visible in what is perhaps the greatest church in history. I ordered the icons made into a diptych and was very pleased with the quality of materials and construction when they arrived. I’ll never forget my trip to Constantinople, and these icons will be a regular reminder.

Exactly what I wanted. Two beautiful icons of Christ and Mary. The only downside is that they don't stand on their own, but this can be easily remedied by propping them up with your Catechism of the Catholic Church and your spare copy of the Summa. Shipped within 3 days and came in perfect condition. Could not recommend more highly.
