Introducing New Icons and Partnership With Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC
Last February, Legacy Icons visited the Orthodox Church in America’s primatial cathedral. There we discovered the church’s incredible iconography, covering every surface from floor to ceiling. This left us with the feeling of wonder and awe, as if we had seen the “great cloud of witnesses” with our own eyes—the feeling one ought to have inside a temple of God.
With the church’s blessing, our team has photographed many of the icons, which we have begun to offer on our website. Throughout July, our email newsletter will highlight these icons and share the stories of the Faith that they embody and reflect. Over time, we will also add to the collection as we process the hundreds of photos we took.
Please share this post with anyone you know who would like to hear more about this project!
This beautiful icon collection features:
- Two matching icon sets of Christ and the Virgin Mary
- Matching icon set of the Four Evangelists
- A unique icon of Saint Andrew the Apostle with his X-shaped cross
- “Christ the True Vine,” an icon dear to the heart of recovering addicts
- A glorious icon of the Harrowing of Hades
- A historic Arabic icon of Saint Moses the Ethiopian
- “Preparation of the Throne,” a reminder of the Last Judgment
- The 13 Apostles to Georgia
- A stunning fresco depicting the Orthodox Mission to Alaska
When you purchase these icons, a portion of the sales are given back to Saint Nicholas Cathedral to support their ministry. This is part of Legacy Icons’ commitment to supporting the craft and spiritual discipline of traditional iconography, and the churches that host them.
