Walk Through the Church Year With Legacy Icons
The Creation account is read four times each year in the Orthodox Church: on the eves of the greatest feasts of the Lord Jesus—the Nativity, Theophany, and Pascha—and during the first week of Great Lent. It seems like a fitting visual meditation for the start of the new liturgical year, as well. Read more about this icon by Georgi Chimev.
Dear Reader,
Do the feasts and commemorations of the church sometimes sneak up on you? The Church in her wisdom gives us cycles of repetition by which we reorient ourselves to the kingdom of God. Many of us often stay so busy with the daily tasks of life that when the feasts do come we wish for more time to reflect on their profound meaning and reality. With this project, we hope to offer a sort of "heads up" at the beginning of each month: we'll list the feasts coming up, highlight some commemorations, and offer some reflections, both our own and from the great voices of the Church, old and new. We'll send a second email with more reflections and commemorations and some icons to meditate on. Occasionally, we might even send an exclusive coupon code!
