Church Year Email Launch

Detail from an iconographic portrayal of the 12 month Church Calendar (Menaion)

Coinciding with the beginning of the new church year in September, Legacy launched its first Church Year email and blog series as part of our educational program. Besides highlighting great and lesser feast days and seasons, it provides an ongoing journal of conversations, thoughts, and excerpts from services to help the reader (and worshiper) engage in worship throughout the year.

In these emails and blog posts we have reflected together on how starting the year in September might be a shift for some of us:

“Today is the time to start anew. All of this points to the essential nature of the year as something much deeper than a random collection of days tracked by astronomical events and calendars. Like all things, the year’s purpose is to point us back to Christ himself.”

and how the Church Year is an opportunity to “grow in communion with Christ, Theotokos, the angels, and the saints,” following “a succession of opportunities, a path of holiness that every saint before us has trod.”
