Legacy Icons exists to preserve and promote the integrity, truth, and history of the Christian faith through its iconography. To accomplish this goal, we offer perhaps the finest icon reproductions in the world. We do our utmost to hold the rights to each icon we reproduce by either commissioning it exclusively for us, or by performing a balanced restoration of ancient icons under public domain to preserve their beauty for generations to come.
For over 20 years, our team has painstakingly developed an exclusive system for fine art reproductions using exquisite acid-free papers, scientific pigments, rich inks, and protective sealants. Using this combination, we are able to produce unprecedented colors with a precise and delicate balance of tones and color saturations.
Combining our museum-quality prints, over three decades of combined experience in the field of fine art restoration, and our Orthodox Christian faith, Legacy Icons offers beautifully-crafted icon reproductions that will retain their integrity for 100 years and more. Our competitive pricing makes heirloom-quality icons available to every family, ready to be passed from generation to generation.
We work closely with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Ancient Faith Ministries, and the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists).
Our private selection of over 50 varieties of incense is imported for you from around the world. We work with the finest traders to help enhance your worship and prayer. Athonite incense is made in the tradition of the monks on Mount Athos from the powder of frankincense or fir resin. It is mixed with essential oils then rolled, dried, and cut into small pieces. Natural resin incense is hand-collected resin from the exterior of trees that is left mostly in its raw form except to be broken into more manageable pieces. Each incense we offer undergoes rigorous testing to make sure it meets or exceeds our standards. A few of our staff favorites are Desert Gold, Saint George, and Holy Myrrhbearers.
Legacy Icons was founded by David DeJonge, an Orthodox Christian. David was raised as an Evangelical Protestant, but in 2011 he was hired to photograph the installation of iconography at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he immediately knew the Orthodox Church was his true home. He began to study Orthodoxy, and has never stopped.
Our founder and leaders are Orthodox Christians who are members of St. Willibrord Antiochian Orthodox Church in Holland, Michigan. As such, we are committed to furthering education about pre-reformation Christianity, specifically Eastern Orthodoxy. We do this through our store, and on most social media by producing short video documentaries.
Legacy Icons started in a small building in Hudsonville, Michigan. Within 2 years we outgrew that location, and moved to a larger building in Zealand, Michigan. As we continued to grow and add new products at this location we have outgrown it in the last few months and have since started looking for an even larger building to accommodate our growing inventory incense and quick ship icons.
At the Seventh Ecumenical Council, the Universal Church proclaimed that the venerations of icons is not only acceptable, but a necessary testament to the incarnation of Christ and His work in the lives of His Saints. It is our desire that all Christians, and all people, discover this truth for themselves.
