Product Description

This is one of the most-venerated Orthodox icons. It is believed to be the first icon ever painted, by Saint Luke the Evangelist himself. It is said that the board was made from the table at which Christ, His Mother, and Saint Joseph ate. In 1131 the icon was taken from Constantinople to Russia, to the city of Vladimir. It resides in Moscow today.
