This flag is known as "the First Byzantine Empire Flag," featuring the emblems of the Palaiologos dynasty which ruled the Roman Empire from 1259 until the fall of Constantinople in 1453. It features the imperial arms and the Tetragrammatic cross with four B's of the royal family's motto, "Basileùs basiléon basileuónton basileúei" (King of Kings ruling over the kings). Today this flag is used as an alternative to the Byzantine Eagle flag as a symbol of the Greek Orthodox Church.
The flag features a double hemmed fly and a very sturdy reinforced hoist with heavy duty plastic clips.
