Use this traditional fabric covering to decorate your basket of food as you travel to the Pascha midnight service. This white cloth is simply embroidered with a red egg and the Russian letters XB, short for Christos Voskrese—"Christ is Risen!"
The Easter Basket Tradition
It is customary, especially in Slavic countries, for families to bring large baskets of food to church on Pascha, to be blessed by the priest after the midnight Divine Liturgy. These are foods that have not been eaten during the Lenten Fast, and now will be enjoyed in celebration of the Resurrection. Every country has its own traditional Pascha foods, but commonly included are: kulich (Easter bread), cheese, butter, eggs, sausage, and wine.
