Description
The Cross of Golgotha is an elaboration on the symbol of the Cross, and is especially common in Orthodox monasticism. The meaning of the text is as follows (from top to bottom):

Honored Trophy, the Dread of Demons
a Flow of Tears, more Eloquent than Orators
Christ Gives Grace to Christians
the Tasting of the Tree Brought Death
through the Tree of the Cross we have Found Life
the Discovery of Helen has Uncovered Eden
the Light of Christ Illumines All
the Vision of God, a Divine Wonder
Demons Dread the Sign of the Cross
the Tree of Life
the Place of the Skull has Become Paradise
With the Cross are the spear, which stabbed Christ's side, and the sponge, which was used to offer Him vinegar. The three steps and the skull represent the mountain of Golgotha, which means "the place of the skull."
You can choose Greek or English inscriptions, or if you prefer, you can choose just the Cross, without any text. The plaque is 6x12 inches.

Awesome Quality
I am a Catholic, not an Orthodox Christian. I love this Icon. Mine came in quick and in great quality of construction. I will get another icon from this company with the amount of quality and reverence you guys show. I am considered an Orthodox Catholic as I believe the Mass passed down by the Apostles should have never changed, as I attend the Tridentine Mass. God Bless all of you. Ave Maria.

Different....
My personal opinion is that this is not my favorite Cross icon, but that is not a reflection on the product--just personal preference. However, like always the quality is great & it shipped quickly.

Another beautiful icon
I've purchased many icons from Legacy, each of high quality. This one is no different. Well made, delivered quickly. This icon has a different meaning for me than just a "regular" icon. I purchased it, because just looking at the starkness of the cross brings to mind the battle I wage in spiritual warfare as I navigate my solitary monastic vocation. I will continue to purchase from Legacy any time I am in need (or want) of a new icon for my home hermitage chapel...or for a gift for anyone else. (If I could offer one suggestion, however, to Legacy: it would have been VERY helpful to have the printout of the text listed above - either on the back of the icon or even just something printed and included in the shipment. Just to have the meaning of the letters on hand.)

The King of Glory & His Cross
This cross represents to me the spiritual warfare we must participate in as we move up the divine ladder towards heaven. I use this in my prayers, as many saints do, as an Icon that shows the depths of darkness, but from that emerges the saving light of Christ & His Holy Cross. This Cross is to inspire mankind to live as Christ Lives in us & shows that Jesus defeated death & all powers of darkness.
