Description
This icon of Christ Pantocrator was discovered in an old shed near Moscow in 1919. It is believed to have been painted by master iconographer Saint Andrei Rublev in the early 15th century.
The heavily-damaged icon, discovered at the beginning of the tragic Soviet period of Russian history, has been viewed by some as a symbol of hope in adversity. The Lord's face remains amid the destruction. Aside from the masterful painting itself, the icon's history makes this an important image to many Christians.

Outstanding Craftsmanship
This mysterious icon with the visage of Christ emerging from the effaced effects of time has always haunted me. For me, this icon depicts a dynamic revelation where Christ actually steps forward to be with us into our lives. Other representations of the Pantocrator are too regal to present the full humanity of Christ. The workmanship on the mounted icon could not be better. As a recommendation, I would suggest ordering the XL size to get the full effect of Christ's emergence.
