This miracle of Christ is found in the three synoptic gospels. While He slept on the boat, a storm arose and threatened to capsize the boat. The disciples woke Him in fear, and the Lord rebuked the wind. The storm died down, and He questioned the disciples' doubt. They were in awe of His divine power, but it was only a small foreshadowing of what was to come.
The figure walking on the shore is a personification of the wind, which Christ rebukes with His uplifted hand.

My favorite Icon yet

This Icon is so beautifully made. The colors are rich. It also depicts one of my favorite stories from the Bible. From the time I was a child this story of Christ calming the sea resonated with me. My childhood was that stormy sea and I desperately needed rescuing. Now as an adult, I'm dealing with some of those childhood issues. The rough seas have returned to be dealt with. The moment I saw this Icon I knew I had to have it. Sometimes I just hold it, trace the waves with my fingers and think of my Savior and all healing and calming power He has for me through these difficult times. It was the Icon I chose to take for the Sunday of Orthodoxy. Thank you for providing such a beautiful Icon for me at the perfect moment. It is truly a treasure!
